Event tourism was the fastest-growing trend in tourism before the pandemic. It will remain, today, and in the future, not only a promising and dynamically developing segment of the global tourism market, but also an effective tool for promoting a country, territory, region, city, or destination. The number of participants in event tours will exceed that of regular tours; travelers today want to come to Georgia not only to "see nature and have a glass of wine," but also to actively participate in the tour's activities.
Therefore, for those who simply want to see what they've already seen in other cities at the Kefal (Mullet) Festival, please don't come to Poti)). Your expectations will not be met. What I mean is, our fest won't be a typical city festival. Please, go to other cities and stroll around the center, drink wine, and eat “shashlik”. And that's it! But in Poti, you'll have the opportunity to explore the city on a self-guided, extensive excursion program, which we're preparing for all of you, for everyone: families, children, those with limited mobility, fast runners, and those who can (possibly) travel on electric scooters.
The 2025 experiment was a great success. We want to repeat this festival-excursion format, but with more organization and more places for guests to visit, so that there are more spots where you'll be greeted by true Poti residents—the city's residents with their own traditions and way of life. You'll be visiting them.
Do you remember that at the dawn of our festival, in 2019, we were already Finalist for the Welcome To Georgia Award in the Best Event category. Well, in 2021, me, Nana Tabidze, was a FINALIST in category Best Entrepreneur in Award, and in 2022, I became a WINNER in category The Best Individual Contributor in the Tourism Industry of Georgia. I am very proud of this recognition of my work. But in terms of the festival's development, I want time to move faster and people to understand that in 2026, they MUST go, stop by, or visit Poti for at least one day during the Kefal Festival. Not to mention that you can stroll around the city at other times. We've been ready for this for a long time!
Event tourism in Georgia is still underdeveloped. The Georgian government, represented by the GNTA (National Tourism Administration), many industry associations, Tourism Alliance, and Tourism Guild, support our festival. Local City Hall is actively promoting tourism in Poti, the city's coastal area—Maltakva Beach, the Colchis National Park, and support our Kefal Fest.
See you in Poti in August 2026! (Stay tuned for more information on the exact dates, August 15 or 22.)
